DD n°9: The Second Intermediate Period Part 2(1750BC)

Lower Egypt is the second narrative area of the 1750 BC startdate. It is divided politically into two areas. The west is unified under the authority of Xois and the descendants of an ancient Canaanite Vizier. The east is divided into a multitude of chiefs ready to fight for their survival.

The heirs of Ioseph are Canaanite rulers, but strongly assimilated to Egypt, who rule over Xois. They are the descendants of a Canaanite Vizier from the time of the XIIth dynasty. Their history will see them gradually rally the chiefs of Lower Egypt until they found the XIVth dynasty by proclaiming themselves sovereigns of Lower Egypt. It remains to be seen whether they will succeed in keeping the Canaanite immigrants at their service...

In the east, Canaanite chiefs took over half of Lower Egypt. Tearing each other apart, these factions will be strengthened by the influx of immigration from Canaan. Additional populations and technologies will give them an advantage if they manage to unify before the Xois faction annexes them. But these new nobles should be careful, as their Canaanite cousins may well use their weapons against them.

The region of Lower Egypt will also have other elements that its factions, and any faction taking over the Delta, can take advantage of. From the middle of the previous date of 1900BC, events will occur from time to time around the trade with the Minoans, bringing wealth and some resources.

But a major event will stop all this. Between 1625BC and 1600BC, the volcano under the island of Thera exploded. Not only did this put an end to trade with the Minoans, who lost most of their fleet in the process. But also, depending on the location of your capital, you will be subjected to a small series of events. Let's just say that the Nile will turn red, the cattle and the first born will die...
